Every Caregiver Supported

Every child’s growth and recovery depends on consistent care from adults who respond with empathy and stability. Child Houses equips parents, foster families, teachers, and orphanage staff with the tools to meet children’s needs — creating environments where children feel safe, valued, and loved.

Building skills for trauma-informed care

Caregiver Training

Most of the children we serve have lived through war, loss, and deep instability. Caregivers often face these realities with little training or support. We provide practical training in trauma awareness, child protection, family tracing, and case management — so caregivers can see children’s behaviors not as “problems to fix” but as pain to be understood.

This work has transformed orphanage staff into advocates for family care, prepared teachers to create safer classrooms, and equipped social workers to guide children with empathy and skill.

Helping families stay stable, supported, and loving

Family Strengthening

When children are reunified with relatives or placed in family-based care, the stability of the home is just as important as the placement itself. Parenting a child who has lived through trauma can feel overwhelming, especially while most caregivers are dealing with their own stress.  That’s why we support families with practical tools, parenting guidance, and referrals for specialized needs — helping them create homes that are not only safe but emotionally supportive environments where the child can thrive.

Replacing institutions with family-centered care

Orphanage Reform

Orphanages in Syria still hold many children who could be with families. While our vision is for these institutions to one day close or become emergency shelters, our work now focuses on making them safe and temporary. We assess orphanages to identify urgent gaps, strengthen basic care, and provide psychosocial support for children. At the same time, we train staff in family tracing, case management, and child protection — helping shift the mindset from permanent placement to preparing children for reunification or family-based care. Until family is the only standard, Child Houses is working to ensure orphanages act as bridges back home, not destinations.

What’s Next

We believe that when caregivers are equipped, children are protected. Our vision is to embed trauma-informed, family-focused training into every layer of care in Syria — from orphanages and schools to families and community leaders. Over time, this approach will ensure that every caregiver, no matter where they serve, has the skills to keep children safe, loved, and supported.

Every child needs a safe adult to lean on. You can help equip caregivers with the tools to offer love and stability.
